Luxury in the midst of Chaos | Sheraton Dhaka
Amidst of the chaotic area of the capital, Banani has outgrown to develop many high-rise corporate buildings and hotels in the recent years. A highlight in the road of Kemal Ataturk Avenue is the newly constructed Sheraton Hotel, Dhaka. The upscale hotel composed of a 28-story building and a 3 -basement level is set to elevate your hotel experience with its myriad of amenities and delightful design elements.
Located in one of the busiest parts of the Dhaka, the building is years old, with hundreds of retails shops, commonly known as Banani Super Market. The idea of this luxurious, multi-national hotel located here was a huge surprise and many were skeptical about this construction. Under the operational plan of Marriot International, Architect Mohammad Foyez Ullah and the Volumezero Ltd. team have executed a successful elevation and design of such an incredible hotel in the country.
The Sheraton Hotel Dhaka’s design concept depicts a dynamic environment that people utilize in a variety of ways and vitality. “Sheraton has always been a brand about community and bringing people together. Sheraton Dhaka is ready for you, from the lobby, a modern setting for people to gather and be seen, to the bedrooms, where the most lavish and modern décor offer a sanctuary from the busy streets”, shares Rezaur Khan, Director of Rooms.
Making something so grandiose required a lot of labour to entirely alter the narrative and building’s setting, and of course, the pandemic’s impact made it difficult to reach this project’s success.
Because of this, there were significant structural renovations made to the building when the interior construction came near completion.
The team encountered many locally unobtainable materials during the exterior, interior finishes, and fit-out construction phase. As a result, they imported 80% of these materials. These materials included mullion and Low-E double glazed glass with UV protection, stone, bathroom fitting fixtures, IT, Security items, audio visual, furniture, carpet, and amenities.
The public and private spaces have been kept apart, thanks to excellent planning and smart arrangement. The hotel has the largest ballroom in the city to date, a double-height grand reception with a premium check-in experience, a stunning terrace, and modern guest suites with an infinity pool on the roof. The hotel’s public areas, including as the lobby and ballroom are located on the podium portion of the building, while the interior rooms are located in the tower. To ensure the guests’ safety, comfort, and enjoyable experience, there is a clearly defined distinction between the two. In order to provide guests a sense of an infinity pool and an outstanding view of the magnificence of Dhaka city, the swimming pool has been positioned at the top of the tower.
While paying attention to the site of Dhaka city and its heritage, the interior design and rich colour combination are most revitalized, luxurious, modern, and vivacious. The colour scheme was chosen in accordance with the design requirements, brand guidelines, and owner’s specification, providing the visitors a vivid, high-end feeling. Every aspect of the furniture choices, including the textile pick, colour scheme, and quality of furniture cover workmanship, has been done extremely well to ensure that the pieces are highly modern, plush in appearance, warm, and regal.
On December 12, 2021, Sheraton Dhaka unveiled its multi-cuisine restaurant called “The Garden Kitchen,” aiming to provide its esteemed patrons with a luxurious eating experience. The restaurant is located in the center of Banani on Level -14 of the five-star hotel. The restaurant’s seating arrangement, where customers can enjoy their meals while gazing out at the tranquil lush greenery and the metropolitan skyline is what makes it special. It is divided into two sections: The Garden Kitchen, an inside seating space, and the elegant dining terrace, a nearby outdoor dining area. While the outside area offers a quiet setting under the starry night with mesmerizing sceneries, light-toned colours, and luxurious white furnishings, the inside dining area has various live kitchens where the skilled chefs display their culinary abilities.
Besides the Garden Kitchen, the 248-room luxury hotel has additional fine eating establishments, such as “Yumi,” an elevated Japanese restaurant, “Toastina,” a pastry and coffee house and “On the Rocks,” a lounge with a variety of cocktails. The hotel provides its visitors with a number of immaculate extra amenities, including one of the finest pillarless banquet rooms in the city for holding weddings, meetings, incentives, conferencing, and exhibits. Other amenities are available to fulfill the needs of today’s international visitors, including a business center, many conference spaces, a fully-stocked fitness center, a heated rooftop pool, and a spa.
