Edge, The Foundation, is hosting a solo exhibition The Odyssey: Crossroads of Dreams and Memories, by artist Md Tokon. The exhibition will be inaugurated on January 21 at Edge Gallery and is open to all till February 16. The exhibition will showcase 79 artworks of Md Tokon.
A prolific painter, Md Tokon started painting in his native Bangladesh as a young artist and continues to paint large canvases along with works on paper in New York. His recent abstractions are predicated on color, dark, light and space. The work he produces shares similarities with the lyrics or poetry; example of Bob Dylan & Rabindranath Tagore, which are simple, pure, and organic. The results are highly emotional, energetic & sensational. But his recent paintings are more strong and powerful. Tokon’s style has reflected the art of American Abstract Expressionists. It has east and west dialogue. It’s universal and fits any modern art museum.
