In a city brimming with radiant energy and culture, a new dining destination offers an unexpected escape into a world of sensory delight. Boho Banani, a Thai restaurant like no other, marries the bold and exotic flavors of Thai cuisine with the serene and earthy elements of bohemian design.
This stunning space was brought to life by a passionate team led by Md Rabiul Islam, Nehleen Ahmed Chowdhury, and Utsha Zaman, with design expertise from Shovon Shikder, Jayeed Muhammad, Noheli Mirza, Zakaria Ahmed, Razia Sultana Laboni, and Sajib Ahmed. The thoughtful development of the furniture and construction was a collaboration with Legatto and Ikigai Dhaka, while product development and supply were overseen by Saqlain Moustaq and Seven Days. The breathtaking photography, which captures the essence of the space, was shot by Utsha Zaman.
Boho’s design takes inspiration from the bohemian style, which is known for its relaxed, earthy vibe.
The restaurant feels both welcoming and stylish, with a perfect mix of comfort and charm. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a space that feels like a home away from home, with natural materials, soft lighting, and cozy seating that encourage you to unwind and enjoy the moment.
Its design perfectly blends elements of traditional Thai culture with touches of Bangladeshi influence
The restaurant’s color palette, with its warm and earthy tones, creates a calm environment that sets the tone for the dining experience. Soft shades of beige, light brown, and natural tones evoke a cozy, lived-in feel, making the space feel both chic and inviting.
These earthy hues also create a perfect contrast to the vibrant flavors of Thai food, allowing the dishes to take center stage. The warm color scheme encourages a sense of comfort, while also highlighting the restaurant’s connection to nature and its focus on creating an organic and grounded environment.
One of the most notable features of the design is the abundance of greenery.
Boho is filled with rich plants, which help bring life and energy to the space. The greenery also adds texture and color, creating a natural, refreshing atmosphere. The plants are carefully placed to create a sense of balance, with some large leafy plants in the corners and smaller ones scattered throughout.
The design places a strong emphasis on using natural materials, such as wood, bamboo, and wicker.
These materials give the space an organic feel, making it feel earthy and grounded. The furniture is a mix of wooden tables and chairs, with some pieces crafted from live-edge wood for a rustic touch. One of the standout features is the central table, which is adorned with sprouting plants, bringing the outdoors in and making it a focal point in the restaurant. The natural textures of the wood and bamboo create a relaxed and warm atmosphere, adding to the boho charm of the space.
The use of these materials also reflects a focus on sustainability, with pieces that are both functional and environmentally friendly. The natural elements help create a soothing environment, where diners can feel comfortable and at ease while enjoying their meals.
Lighting plays a big role in creating the right atmosphere at Boho. The restaurant uses a combination of soft, ambient lighting to set the mood. Large woven pendant lights hang from the ceiling, casting a gentle glow over the dining area. These are paired with smaller copper wall-mounted fixtures that add a warm, intimate touch.
The layered lighting effect adds to the overall relaxed vibe of the space, making it feel welcoming and calm. The light gently filters through the handwoven macramé drapes and natural canvas fabrics, softening the light and adding a touch of texture to the space. This thoughtful use of lighting ensures that the restaurant always feels comfortable and welcoming, whether it’s day or night. Comfort was a top priority when designing the seating at Boho. The layout features a mix of seating options, including cushioned chairs, lounge-style seating, and intimate booths. This variety ensures that every diner can find a space that suits their needs.
