Architect Rakib Hasan
What is your opinion about the architecture scene in Bangladesh right now?
Today, in 2019, I feel very affirmative about the architecture of Bangladesh. Globalization has put an impact on architecture too; we’ll observe a transformation, where our history of architecture is guiding us as a spine.
We can say, fusion is ruling the architecture world, where you’ll find the bold expressions and fine details. Most architects are more concerned about the quality of spatial effect he’s creating whether to make a big space or cozy one; and all the efforts are highly visible in his works.
What according to you is the future of architecture in Bangladesh?
Truly speaking, it has started. It’s the energy consumption, nature, and environment around us. To deal with our environment is the next step for architecture of Bangladesh. We need to design the canvas giving priority to environmental issues. In a densely populated country like us, it is tough but not impossible; we have to grab it and address it as the main component of design.
A piece of advice for the young architect who wants to build a career in this field
For the young architects, my advice would be; architecture is not that deals with own creation, own metaphor, or own fantasy, rather it is more to deal with society, nature and human being.
A quote that you swear by:
Observe, learn, think….CREATE.
