- What is your opinion about the architecture scene of Bangladesh right now?
After the liberation, many qualified architects have emerged and have accomplished some excellent architectural structures. We do not have the tendency to follow the foreign culture of architecture blindly. Under the supervision of the different institute, different competitions are being held, which is helping the young talents in the field of architecture to grow and create a new revolution.
- What according to you is the future of architecture in Bangladesh?
Usage of multiple techniques has expanded the possibilities. Local materials are keeping the perspective of the geographical and climatic situation of our region. Environmental aspects are taken under consideration. Each and every structure prepared these days is constructed with the thought of sustainability. Many brilliant works are ongoing at this point of time. I am extremely hopeful that after the construction ends, the world will look upon us and appreciate the good work.
- A piece of advice for young architects who want to build a career in this field.
All the great leaders are known as the architect of the nation, reason being, they shape the country according to the vision they have. They can foresee the beautiful future ahead, plan for it, work according to it and finally bring that vision to life. Same goes for the architect; he keenly makes a vision of the structure and gives it an existence. All architects must have this believe in their heart that they are equivalent to a national leader, who would present something beautiful to the world.

Mubasshar Hussein is a Bangladeshi architect, urban planner and educator. Mubasshar Hussein completed his bachelor of architecture from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. He is the principal architect of Assoconsult Ltd. He is currently the president of Commonwealth Association of Architects and Institute of Architects Bangladesh. He also served as the president of Architects Regional Council, Asia ARCASIA.
