The Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) represents high standards and purposeful leadership. For the design of its new office, located on the top floor of a commercial building, the challenge was to create an environment that mirrored the organization’s values—uncluttered, thoughtful, and professional. The design, by the architectural firm Dehsar Works (DW), led by principal architect Rashed H Chowdhury, combines simplicity and functionality, offering a harmonious workspace that prioritizes privacy, natural light, and a calm aesthetic.Clarity in Simplicity
The vision for BAPI’s office was minimalist, focusing on clean, thoughtful design without overwhelming the space with unnecessary elements.
The goal was to create a workplace where each functional area serves a purpose and contributes to the overall atmosphere. The design approach sought to enhance the working environment while ensuring that every functional element subtly enhances the space’s aesthetic appeal.
Being located on the top floor of a commercial building with a large glass façade, the office had plenty of potential for natural light. However, the challenge was to ensure privacy while making the most of the daylight. To strike the right balance, Dehsar Works employed translucent partitions that provided visual privacy without blocking light. These partitions, strategically placed, allowed daylight to filter into the deeper corners of the office without causing glare, ensuring that the work environment remained bright, airy, and comfortable.
A neutral material palette was chosen to keep the space grounded and in line with the minimalist design approach.
The materials were kept simple and raw, highlighting their natural qualities rather than disguising them with added decoration. This respect for materials—such as the white metal mesh with translucent glass panels—served a dual purpose. Not only did these elements create a soothing texture throughout the space, but they also provided both acoustic and visual privacy, allowing for clear boundaries between different functional areas without creating a harsh division.
The careful choice of materials helped create an inviting atmosphere, where functionality and beauty coexist.
