17th Italian Contemporary Art Day Held at DBF Creative Studio
The Embassy of Italy, in collaboration with the Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation, organized the 17th Italian Contemporary Art Day in the capital.
The event included presentation and discussions about the Italian Contemporary art scenario from three different perspectives: The Collector, the Visual Artist, and the Architect. The Italian Contemporary Art Day is organized annually by the Association of the Italian Museums of Contemporary Art – AMACI – in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. This multiform program aims at giving the public an opportunity to experience from up close the complex and lively world of contemporary art.
At the event, Architect Dr NR Khan and multidisciplinary Artist Kamruzzaman Shadhin both gave visual presentation from their respective fields and highlighted their recent exhibition and studies in Italy. Inauguration and welcome speech were delivered by Charge D Affaires of Italian Embassy in Dhaka Mr. Mattias Ventura and note of thanks was delivered by the Founder of Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation Mr Durjoy Rahman.
The event displayed works by prominent Italian contemporary artist Andrea Morucchio and Paolo Ventura. Bangladesh Masters Novera Ahmed, Murtaja Baseer and Aminul Islam’s works were displayed since all three have been influenced by Italian art practices during their education in Italy.
The event was attended by art critics, visual artists; art historians, journalists and members from the local and diplomatic communities.
