Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts inaugurated an exhibition titled ‘Symphony of Rivers and Hills’ on October 15, at Gandhi Memorial Center, Western Avenue, Bethesda, Washington Dc, USA. The exhibition showcases the artworks of two eminent Bangladeshi artists: artist Jamal Uddin Ahmed and artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma. The exhibition will be open to all till October 30. SHOWCASE Magazine is the proud magazine partner of the event.
Jamal Ahmed’s passion for nature’s beauty and its detail has led him to create images that bring to life the spirit and character of what we see around us. He prefers to work with acrylic, charcoal, and pastel. Whatever the medium is, he always ensures that the canvas looks soft and vibrant as if the visitors are viewing the real things and not the canvasses. “The themes of my paintings for this exhibition mostly include boatmen, flood-affected people, bucolic panoramic views, rivers, and riverine people. I want to represent Bangladesh and its people through my paintings in the international arena. I am glad Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts has arranged this exhibition on the international platform which will create new opportunities for Bangladeshi artists henceforth”, shares Jamal Uddin Ahmed.
Kanak Chanpa Chakma’s work speaks of the oft-forgotten indigenous people and their mesmerizing lifestyle. “I have prepared artworks for this exhibition some of which have taken years to complete. I have introduced some new subjects such as indigenous festivals, and rituals. I wanted to portray that despite the immense struggle and grief of indigenous people, how beautifully and devotedly they perform all their festivals. I believe, this exhibition will create a bridge for accomplished and upcoming artists to showcase their works on international platforms very easily”, says Kanak Chanpa Chakma.
Apart from the featured artist duo, Nilu Rowshon Murshed, CEO of Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts, is also present in the exhibition. “I am delighted to present the artworks of two of my favourite artists –Jamal Ahmed and Kanak Chanpa Chakma. We look forward to arranging more exhibitions featuring other Bangladeshi artists on international platforms near future”, says Nilu Rowshon Murshed.
A total of 44 artworks are being exhibited; 22 artworks by Jamal Uddin Ahmed and 22 works by Kanak Chanpa Chakma. The exhibition is curated by art activist Sultan. M. Mineuddin. “The mission of the exhibition is to create a platform for prominent artists to exhibit their brilliance on the international stage for international art lovers and also to create a bond between Bangladesh art enthusiasts and other country’s art lovers”, expresses Sultan. M. Mineuddin.
