The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Irma van Dueren, the Dutch ambassador to Bangladesh, Irene Khan, the UN special rapporteur on Freedom of Opinion, and Shahidul Alam, the managing director of Drik. Alam reflected on the long partnership between Drik and the World Press Photo Foundation, emphasizing press freedom and truthful journalism’s transformative power. Ambassador van Dueren praised the exhibition’s role in amplifying global narratives and voices that may otherwise be silenced.
