Thoughtscape Synthetic
“Synthetic Reality” at Kalakendra, located at 9/4, Block-D, Lalmatia, Dhaka 1207, Bangladesh, presents an intriguing exhibition titled “Synthetic Reality: Is Thought Artificial Movement of Thought.” Running from July 12 to August 12, 2024, and open daily from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, this exhibit features the latest work by visual artist Javed Jalil.
This event gets into the notion that our thinking processes might themselves be artificial. Javed Jalil’s art challenges viewers to question whether our mental activities and perceptions are genuinely authentic or merely constructed. Through his work, he explores thought as a series of mechanical movements rather than a natural phenomenon.
The first part of the exhibition, “The Red,” addresses the paradox of human thought. It examines how reality often appears as fragmented moments, each tugging at us emotionally. This leads to a restless desire for stillness, revealing the tension between action and calm. Javed Jalil captures this emotional complexity, reflecting the impulse and aggression that frequently accompany our mental experiences.
His pieces invite a deeper dialogue about the nature of our inner lives. He encourages us to rethink how we perceive reality and our role within it by presenting thought as a synthetic construct. For an engaging experience that blends art with philosophical inquiry, “Synthetic Reality” is a great opportunity indeed.
