Architect Haroon Ur Rashid
- What is your opinion about the architecture scene if Bangladesh right now?
The architecture scene in Bangladesh has been changing for the better, what we see today is that there are some architects doing excellent work, and there is room for the quality of the average to improve.
- What according to you is the future of the architecture scene in Bangladesh?
I am very hopeful of the future of architecture in Bangladesh, we have already seen two architects win the prestigious Aga Khan award, architects are winning ARCASIA awards. The future of architecture is bright and vibrant.
- A piece of advice for young architects who want to build a career in this field?
My advice to young architects would be to be true to the context because architecture is a product of context and function. We cannot think of architecture without thinking of the context.
We may look at examples done by foreign architects but our heroes in architecture should form from our own side. Being true to the context, being true to the function, true to what you are doing, and trying to evolve something that is truly the culture of this country, and of its people- that is the way to be.
