In the heart of Dhaka, a new destination for Food & Ambience explorers is now quiet popular. Turkey Bliss is located on the Road-11 in Banani. The vision was to create an inviting atmosphere that reflects the rich culture and history of Turkey. This new restaurant is indeed a place designed to offer a peaceful escape from the hectic pace of city life.
Turkey Bliss was designed by ArchSense Architects (Ar. Abu Eleas Linkon, Ar. Najiur Rahman, Ar. Asaduzzaman Rubel Ayon & Ar. Lubabah Sadia). Team’s Intention was to achieve a balance of comfort and elegance; inviting guests to linger and enjoy their meals in a setting that transports them to Turkey. This design approach will enhance the dining experience, making it memorable and culturally enriching.
The restaurant primarily serves authentic Turkish food. For the diners’ experience to be complete, the senses must have had to stimulate not only by the menu but also by the interior decor. So, taking cues from Turkish design and style, the Turkey Bliss restaurant is meticulously curated with vibrant colors, textures and patterns, to resemble a Turkish look and feel.
As the space is compact, the layout plan was done wisely to ensure a smooth functional flow. The service and the kitchen areas were handled tactfully so that it functions efficiently within a very compact space. The indoor section is separated into two zones; one for private dining experience & the other for the spacious, cozy environment. Private dining spaces can be merged or separated by the Sliding Partitions to host Get Together & Family Events. “Each space has its own charm, giving visitors a Turkish experience”, shares Ar. Najiur Rahman, Lead Designer of ArchSense Architects.
What makes Turkey Bliss special is the combination of traditional Turkish Elements that stands out from the common items we see around us. In the indoor section, guests are greeted by a vibrant color palette- chosen from Warm Earth Tones such as Reds, Blues & Turquoise shades. Rich Greens was incorporated to create a relaxing atmosphere.
Turkish Patterns were prominent to reminiscent of traditional Turkish ceramics and tiles. Wooden flooring was used for a rustic feel. Stucco textured walls were used to resemble Turkish village homes. Artwork depicting Turkish landscapes, historical sites & vibrant scenes of daily life were used to create a sensory connection with Turkish culture. Ornate pendant lights, lanterns made of stained glass & metals were used to create a warm glow. Sconces with intricate designs were used to add ambient light and enhance the decor.
As Decor Elements, handwoven kilim Turkish Rugs were used at the entry outside wall to transform the ambience from the chaotic urban hustle. Turkish Ceramic Plates were placed on the feature wall. Copper accent pots and copperware were placed on shelves as centerpieces. Traditional Turkish textile inspired table runners, cushions, and curtains were added to create a sense of authenticity.
Artificial Hanging plants, Herbs & Shrubs were used to add freshness and a natural touch. The Central Seating zone was designed with trellises covered in Hanging plants. Turkish lanterns were used above the seating for an inviting evening atmosphere.
The design philosophy of Turkey Bliss goes beyond aesthetics as it’s about creating an experience; it’s like a transition to Turkey from the heart of Dhaka. It’s an example of design embracing culture, food becoming art, and details becoming story to tell. The Architects wanted to offer more than just a meal, they wanted to create a space where people could pause & relax. Entering Turkey Bliss means stepping into a peaceful and beautifully decorated place where everyone can slow down and enjoy their moment.
