Architects are the people who frame your dreams into reality, be it your residence design or a corporate office 
design. An architect’s decision has a great impact on the society and thus an architect has to undergo a specialized training consisting of advanced education and practical experience to earn a license to practice architecture. There are several branches of architecture: interior architecture, pure architecture, urban & landscape design, etc. But all of these require one to be dedicated whole-heartedly throughout their educational training phase. All the hard-work, time and understanding of their realms are combined in the final year thesis projects of the students.
Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) offers one of the best architecture programs in our country. Most of the renowned architects of Bangladesh have completed their educational journey from this very institute. Final year students of the Department of Architecture have a final jury and an exhibition displaying their thesis projects which usually consists of a model of the proposed project and a sheet providing information in a graphical and written format. This year has been no different.
The Department of Architecture, BUET in association with Akhtar Group Ltd had organized a thesis project exhibition entitled ‘illation’ powered by SHOWCASE MAGAZINE at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Mr. Asaduzzaman Noor , Honourable Minister, Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Government of Bangladesh inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest on October 11, 2018. Prof. Dr. Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed delivered the 
welcoming address as the Design Studio Coordinator at the opening ceremony. Head of the Department BUET, Prof. Dr. Nasreen Hossain ; Principal Architect at J A Architects and advisor of Showcase Magazine, Ar. Jalal Ahmed; Managing Director at Akhtar Group Ltd. K M Rifatuzzaman delivered their speeches. The inauguration program concluded with the book launching ceremony of “ILLATION”.
Continuing this journey, the next exhibition will be held in the early months of 2019. The next batch of final year students are preparing for their next big leap to enter the professional world of architecture. Their supervisors and mentors are supporting them and guiding them for the next exhibition to be held soon.
“The next batch of students has a wide variety of unique projects to be featured. I 
hope this next exhibition will include a lot more interaction with the audience from different sectors. Both the students and teachers are thoroughly excited and waiting for the next exhibition”, says Dr. Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed, Prof., Dept. of Architecture. Assistant Prof. Tahajibul Hossain and Lecturer Nayna Tabassum of the same department are delighted as well to be part of this journey. They are eagerly waiting along with the students for the next exhibition.
